Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَدْرَكَ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ فِي رَكْبٍ وَهُوَ يَحْلِفُ بِأَبِيهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ لِيَحْلِفْ حَالِفٌ بِاللَّهِ أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
English Translation
Hadrat 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came upon Hadrat 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) while he was on his mount, swearing by his father. So the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Verily, Allah forbids you from swearing by your fathers. Let the one who swears, swear by Allah, or remain silent." Imam Tirmidhi (upon him be mercy) states: This hadith is hasan sahih.
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو ایک سواری پر دیکھا، وہ اپنے باپ کی قسم کھا رہے تھے، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "بیشک اللہ تعالیٰ تمہیں اپنے باپ دادا کی قسم کھانے سے منع فرماتا ہے، قسم کھانے والا اللہ کی قسم کھائے یا خاموش رہے"۔ امام ترمذی رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ فرماتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے۔
