English Translation
Ibn Mas'ud said: The two sons of Mulaykah came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, our mother used to honor her husband, be affectionate to her child, and be hospitable to guests, except that she had buried a daughter alive in the pre-Islamic period.' He said: 'Your mother is in the Fire.' They turned away and distress could be seen on their faces. He ordered them to be brought back, and their faces showed hope that something new had occurred. He said: 'My mother is with your mother.' A hypocrite said: 'What good does this do for his mother when we follow in his footsteps?' An Ansari man - and I have never seen a man who asked more questions - said: 'O Messenger of Allah, has your Lord promised anything regarding her or them?' He said: 'Do you think it is something [trivial]?' He said: 'I have not asked my Lord, but I will stand in the Praised Station on the Day of Resurrection.' The Ansari said: 'What is that Praised Station?' He said: 'That is when you are brought barefoot and naked. The first to be clothed will be Ibrahim (peace be upon him). He [Allah] will say: Clothe My beloved friend. He will be given two white garments and will put them on and sit facing the Throne. Then I will be given my garment and will put it on and stand at His right in a station that no one else will stand in, envied by the first and the last. And my river Kawthar will flow to the Pool.' A hypocrite said: 'No water flows except upon pebbles or gravel.' The Ansari said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what kind of pebbles and gravel?' He said: 'Its pebbles are musk and its gravel is pearls.' The hypocrite said: 'I have never heard of anything like today - water flowing upon pebbles or gravel without vegetation.' The Ansari said: 'O Messenger of Allah, does it have vegetation?' He said: 'Yes, branches of gold.' The hypocrite said: 'I have never heard of anything like today - no branch grows without leaves and fruit.' The Ansari said: 'Does it have fruit?' He said: 'Yes, colors of jewels, and its water is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. Whoever drinks a sip from it will never be thirsty again, and whoever is deprived of it will never be quenched after it.'
