Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:9874 حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَرْوَانَ عَنْ هُزَيْلِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ أَنَّ أَبَا مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيَّ سُئِلَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ تَرَكَ ابْنَتَهُ وَابْنَةَ ابْنِهِ وَأُخْتَهُ لِأَبِيهِ وَأُمِّهِ فَقَالَ لِابْنَتِهِ النِّصْفُ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأُخْتِ مِنَ الْأَبِ وَالْأُمِّ وَقَالَ لَنَا إِنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ سَيَقُولُ مِثْلَ مَا قُلْتُ فَسَأَلُوا ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ ثُمَّ أَخْبَرُوهُ بِمَا قَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى قَالَ وَكَيْفَ أَقُولُ مِثْلَ مَا قَالَ وَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لِابْنَتِهِ النِّصْفُ وَلِابْنَةِ الِابْنِ السُّدُسُ تَكْمِلَةَ الثُّلُثَيْنِ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأُخْتِ مِنَ الْأَبِ وَالْأُمِّ»
English Translation
Abu Musa al-Ash'ari was asked about a man who left behind his daughter, his son's daughter, and his sister from both parents. He said: 'The daughter gets half and the remainder goes to the sister from both parents.' He told us: 'Ibn Mas'ud will say the same as I said.' So they asked Ibn Mas'ud and told him what Abu Musa said. He said: 'How can I say the same when I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: the daughter gets half, the son's daughter gets one-sixth to complete two-thirds, and the remainder goes to the sister from both parents.'
