English Translation
Ishaq ibn Ibrahim narrated from Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah that a man who killed another man was brought before Umar ibn al-Khattab. The children of the slain man came, and one of them had pardoned. Umar said to Ibn Mas'ud, who was beside him: 'What do you say?' Ibn Mas'ud said: 'I say to him: He has been saved from execution.' He (Umar) struck his shoulder and said: 'A vessel filled with knowledge.'
