Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:9373 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا زَائِدَةُ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ صَلَّى جُنْدُبٌ وَمَسْرُوقٌ فِي مَسْجِدٍ الْمَغْرِبَ وَلَمْ يُدْرِكَا مَعَ الْإِمَامِ إِلَّا رَكْعَةً فَقَامَا يَقْضِيَانِ فَقَعَدَ مَسْرُوقٌ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ وَقَامَ جُنْدُبٌ فِي أَوَّلِ رَكْعَةٍ مِنَ الْقَضَاءِ فَأَتَيَا عَبْدَ اللهِ فَذَكَرَا ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «كِلَاكُمَا قَدْ أَحْسَنَ وَافْعَلُوا كَمَا فَعَلَ مَسْرُوقٌ»
English Translation
Masruq and Jundub reached the imam having missed one rak'ah. Masruq did not recite (behind the imam) while Jundub did. They mentioned this to Abdullah (ibn Mas'ud), and he said: 'Neither of you fell short of the matter. The correct practice is what Masruq did.'
