English Translation
Ibn 'Umar narrated that al-Agharr — a man from Muzaynah who was a companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) — had some measures of dates owed to him by a man from Banu 'Amr ibn 'Awf. He went to him repeatedly. He said: "I came to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he sent Abu Bakr al-Siddiq with me." Everyone we met greeted us. Abu Bakr said: "Do you not see that the people greet you first and thus earn the reward? You should greet them first so you earn the reward."
