Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:832 حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ التُّومَنِيُّ ثنا سَلَّامٌ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَيُونُسَ وَهِشَامٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سَرِيعٍ قَالَ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَرِيَّةً فَأَفْضَى بِهَا الْقَتْلُ حَتَّى قَتَلُوا الْوِلْدَانَ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا بَالُ الْوِلْدَانِ؟» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَوَلَيْسُوا مِنْ آبَائِهِمْ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَوَلَيْسَ خِيَارُكُمْ أَوْلَادَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ إِنَّ كُلَّ نَسَمَةٍ يُولَدُ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ حَتَّى يُعْرِبَ عَنْهَا لِسَانُهَا»
English Translation
Al-Aswad ibn Sari' narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent a military expedition, and the killing went so far that they killed the children. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to them: "What about the children?" They said: "O Messenger of Allah, are they not from their fathers?" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Are not the best among you the children of polytheists? Indeed, every soul is born upon the fitrah until his tongue speaks on his behalf."
