Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8486 حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ ثنا أَبُو شَيْبَةَ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَعْلَى ثنا زَائِدَةُ ثنا أَبُو سِنَانٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ عَنْ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ كُنْتُ جَالِسًا مَعَ حُذَيْفَةَ فَجَاءَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ «إِنَّ أَشْبَهَ النَّاسِ هَدْيًا وَدَلًّا وَقَضَاءً وَخُطْبَةً بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ حِينِ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ إِلَى أَنْ يَرْجِعَ وَلَا أَدْرِي مَا يَصْنَعُ فِي أَهْلِهِ لَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ وَاللهِ إِنَّ الْمَحْظُوظِينَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ لَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ مِنْ أَقْرَبِهِمْ وَسِيلَةً»
English Translation
Hudhayfah said: "The most similar of people in conduct, demeanor, judgment, and speech to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) — from the time he leaves his house until he returns, and I do not know what he does in his family — is 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud. By Allah, the privileged ones among the Companions of Muhammad (peace be upon him) know that Ibn Mas'ud is among the closest of them in station."
