Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:4243 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانَ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزُّهْرِيُّ ثنا رِفَاعَةُ بْنُ هُرَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَدِّي عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ جِئْتُ أَنَا وَعَمِّي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ بَدْرًا فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَخْرَجَ مَعَكَ فَجَعَلَ يَقْبِضُ يَدَهُ وَيَقُولُ «إِنِّي أَسْتَصْغِرُكَ وَلَا أَدْرِي مَا تَصْنَعُ إِذَا لَقِيتَ الْقَوْمَ» فَقُلْتُ أَتَعَلَّمُ أَنْ أَرْمِيَ مَنْ رَمَى؟ فَرَدَّنِي
English Translation
Rafi' ibn Khadij said: My uncle and I came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) while he was heading for Badr. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I want to go with you." He would clench his hand and say: "I consider you too young, and I do not know what you would do if you met the enemy." I said: "You will find that I can shoot anyone who shoots (at us)." But he turned me back.
