English Translation
Ibn Abbas narrated that when Abu Sufyan and the polytheists withdrew from Uhud and reached al-Rawha, they said: 'You neither killed Muhammad nor carried off the young women. What a terrible thing you have done!' This reached the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), so he mobilized the people and they marched until they reached Hamra al-Asad or the well of Abu Inabah. Then Allah revealed: 'Those who responded to Allah and the Messenger after injury had struck them.' Abu Sufyan had said to the Prophet (peace be upon him): 'Your appointment is the market of Badr, where you killed our companions.' The coward turned back, but the brave one took preparations for battle and trade. They went to the appointment but found no one there, and they traded. Then Allah revealed: 'So they returned with favor from Allah and bounty, no harm having touched them.'
