Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:11610 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَكِيمٍ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَبَانَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ «إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ فَضَّلَ مُحَمَّدًا عَلَى أَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ وَعَلَى أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ» فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ وَمَا فَضْلُهُ عَلَى أَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ؟ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يَقُولُ لِأَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ {وَمَنْ يَقُلْ مِنْهُمْ إِنِّي إِلَهٌ مِنْ دُونِهِ فَذَلِكَ نَجْزِيهِ جَهَنَّمَ كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الظَّالِمِينَ} وَقَالَ اللهُ ﷻ لِمُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ {إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا لِيَغْفِرَ لَكَ اللهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ} الْآيَةَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ فَمَا فَضْلُهُ عَلَى الْأَنْبِيَاءِ؟ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يَقُولُ {وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا بِلِسَانِ قَوْمِهِ} وَقَالَ اللهُ ﷻ لِمُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ {وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا كَافَّةً لِلنَّاسِ بَشِيرًا وَنَذِيرًا} فَأَرْسَلَهُ اللهُ إِلَى الْإِنْسِ وَالْجِنِّ
English Translation
Ibn Abbas said: 'Indeed, Allah the Exalted favored Muhammad over the inhabitants of the heavens and the inhabitants of the earth.' A man said to him: 'O Abu Abbas, what is his favor over the inhabitants of the heavens?' He said: 'Allah the Exalted says regarding the inhabitants of the heavens: And whoever of them says, I am a god besides Him, then We will repay him with Hell. Thus do We repay the wrongdoers. And Allah the Exalted said to Muhammad (peace be upon him): Indeed, We have given you a clear victory, that Allah may forgive you your past and future sins, the entire verse.' It was asked: 'O Abu Abbas, what is his favor over the Prophets?' He said: 'Allah the Exalted says: And We did not send any messenger except in the language of his people. And Allah the Exalted said to Muhammad (peace be upon him): And We have not sent you except to all of mankind as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. So Allah sent him to both mankind and the jinn.'
