Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:11573 حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ إِنَّ الْآيَاتِ الَّتِي فِي الْمَائِدَةِ {فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِالْقِسْطِ إِنَّ اللهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ} إِنَّمَا نَزَلَتْ فِي الدِّيَةِ فِي بَنِي قُرَيْظَةَ وَبَنِي النَّضِيرِ وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ قَبِيلَ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ كَانَ لَهُمْ شَرَفٌ يُؤَدُّونَ الدِّيَةَ كَامِلَةً وَإِنَّ بَنِي قُرَيْظَةَ كَانُوا يُؤَدُّونَ نِصْفَ الدِّيَةِ فَتَحَاكَمُوا فِي ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ذَلِكَ فِيهِمْ فَحَمَلَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى الْحَقِّ فِي ذَلِكَ فَجَعَلَ الدِّيَةَ سَوَاءً
English Translation
Ibn Abbas narrated that the verses in Surah al-Ma'idah: 'So judge between them with justice. Indeed, Allah loves the just' were revealed regarding the blood money between Banu Qurayzah and Banu al-Nadir. The tribe of Banu al-Nadir had honor and would pay full blood money, while Banu Qurayzah would pay half the blood money. They brought their dispute to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and Allah revealed these verses regarding them. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) established justice among them and made the blood money equal.
