English Translation
Ibn Abbas said: al-Walid ibn al-Mughirah prepared food for the Quraysh. When they had eaten, he said: What do you say about this man (Muhammad)? Some said: A sorcerer. Others said: He is not a sorcerer. Some said: A soothsayer. Others said: He is not a soothsayer. Some said: A poet. Others said: He is not a poet. Some said: It is magic that is transmitted. Their opinion settled on saying it was transmitted magic. This reached the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he became grieved, covered his head, and wrapped himself up. So Allah revealed: 'O you who wraps himself, arise and warn, and your Lord glorify, and your clothing purify, and uncleanliness avoid, and do not give to acquire more, and for your Lord be patient.'
