وعن عبد الله- وقيل: عمرو بن قيس المعروف بابن أم مكتوم المؤذن رضي الله عنه أنه قال: يا رسول الله إن المدينة كثيرة الهوام والسباع. فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : "تسمع حي على الصلاة، حي على الفلاح، فحيهلا" ((رواه أبو داود بإسناد حسن. (12)
English Translation
'Abdullah bin Umm Maktum, the Mu'adhdhin (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported that I said to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): "There are many poisonous insects and wild beasts in Al-Madinah, and I am blind. Please grant me permission to perform Salat at home." He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) enquired whether he could hear the call: Hayya 'alas-Salah; Hayya 'alal-Falah (Come to the prayer, come to the salvation). When he replied in affirmative, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) directed him to come (to mosque) for prayer.".
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن اُمّ مکتوم رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ (جو مؤذن تھے) نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! مدینہ میں بہت سے زہریلے کیڑے مکوڑے اور درندے ہیں (اور میں نابینا ہوں)۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: 'کیا تمہیں حَیَّ عَلَی الصَّلَاۃ، حَیَّ عَلَی الْفَلَاح سنائی دیتا ہے؟ تو پھر آ جاؤ۔'
