On the authority of Hadrat Anas (may Allah be well pleased with him) from the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), who stated: The believers will gather together on the Day of Resurrection and will say: Should we not seek intercession to our Lord? So they will come to Hadrat Adam (upon him be peace) and say: You are the father of mankind; Allah created you with His Hand and made His angels prostrate before you, and taught you the names of all things — so intercede for us with your Lord so that he may relieve us from this place. He will say: I am not worthy of that — and he will mention his sin and feel ashamed — go to Nuh (upon him be peace); for he is the first messenger whom Allah sent to the people of the earth. So they will come to him and he will say: I am not worthy of that — and he will mention his asking his Lord something of which he had no knowledge, and he will feel ashamed — he will say: Go to the Intimate Friend of the Most Merciful (Ibrahim (upon him be peace), upon him be peace). So they will come to him and he will say: I am not worthy of that — go to Musa (upon him be peace), a servant to whom Allah spoke and gave the Torah. So they will come to him and he will say: I am not worthy of that — and he will mention the taking of a life without right, and he will feel ashamed before his Lord — he will say: Go to 'Isa (upon him be peace), Allah's servant and His Messenger, Allah's word and His spirit. So they will come to him and he will say: I am not worthy of that — go to Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), a servant whom Allah has forgiven all his past and future sins. So they will come to me and I shall set forth to seek permission of my Lord and it will be granted. When I behold my Lord I shall fall down in prostration and He will let me remain so as long as He wills. Then it will be said: Raise your head, ask and it shall be granted, speak and it shall be heard, intercede and your intercession shall be accepted. So I shall raise my head and praise Him with such praises as He will teach me, then I shall intercede and He will set a limit for me. I shall then admit them into Paradise. Then I shall return a second time, and a third, and a fourth, and I shall say: There remains in Hell-fire only those whom the Quran has confined and who must be there for eternity.
It was related by al-Bukhari (also by Muslim, at-Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah). In another version of al-Bukhari: The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: There shall come out of Hell-fire he who has said: There is no god but Allah, and who has in his heart goodness weighing a barley-corn; then there shall come out of Hell-fire he who has said: There is no god but Allah, and who has in his heart goodness weighing a grain of wheat; then there shall come out of Hell-fire he who has said: There is no god but Allah, and who has in his heart goodness weighing an atom.
Urdu Translation
حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: قیامت کے دن مومنین جمع ہوں گے اور کہیں گے: کاش ہم اپنے رب سے شفاعت کی درخواست کریں۔ پس وہ حضرت آدم علیہ السلام کے پاس آئیں گے اور عرض کریں گے: آپ ابو البشر ہیں، اللہ نے آپ کو اپنے ہاتھ سے پیدا کیا، فرشتوں کو آپ کو سجدہ کرایا اور آپ کو ہر چیز کے نام سکھائے — ہمارے لیے اپنے رب سے شفاعت فرمائیں تاکہ وہ ہمیں اس جگہ سے نجات دے۔ وہ فرمائیں گے: میں اس کا اہل نہیں — اور اپنی لغزش یاد کریں گے اور شرم محسوس کریں گے — حضرت نوح علیہ السلام کے پاس جاؤ کیونکہ وہ پہلے رسول ہیں جنہیں اللہ نے اہلِ زمین کی طرف بھیجا۔ پس وہ ان کے پاس جائیں گے اور وہ فرمائیں گے: میں اس کا اہل نہیں — خلیل الرحمٰن (حضرت ابراہیم علیہ السلام) کے پاس جاؤ۔ پس وہ ان کے پاس آئیں گے اور وہ فرمائیں گے: میں اس کا اہل نہیں — حضرت موسیٰ علیہ السلام کے پاس جاؤ، اللہ کے وہ بندے جن سے اللہ نے کلام فرمایا اور توراۃ عطا فرمائی۔ پس وہ ان کے پاس آئیں گے اور وہ فرمائیں گے: میں اس کا اہل نہیں — حضرت عیسیٰ علیہ السلام کے پاس جاؤ، اللہ کے بندے اور اس کے رسول، اللہ کا کلمہ اور اس کی روح۔ پس وہ ان کے پاس آئیں گے اور وہ فرمائیں گے: میں اس کا اہل نہیں — حضرت محمد صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس جاؤ، اللہ کے وہ بندے جن کے اگلے پچھلے سب (ممکنہ) گناہ بخش دیے گئے۔ پس وہ میرے پاس آئیں گے اور میں اپنے رب سے اجازت مانگوں گا اور اجازت مل جائے گی۔ جب میں اپنے رب کا دیدار کروں گا تو سجدے میں گر جاؤں گا، اللہ مجھے جتنا چاہے سجدے میں رہنے دے گا۔ پھر فرمایا جائے گا: سر اُٹھاؤ، مانگو تمہیں دیا جائے گا، کہو سنا جائے گا، شفاعت کرو قبول کی جائے گی۔ پس میں سر اُٹھاؤں گا اور اللہ کی اُن حمدوں سے حمد کروں گا جو وہ مجھے سکھائے گا، پھر شفاعت کروں گا اور اللہ ایک حد مقرر فرمائے گا، پس میں انہیں جنت میں داخل کروں گا۔ پھر دوسری بار، تیسری بار اور چوتھی بار لوٹوں گا اور کہوں گا: جہنم میں صرف وہ باقی رہے جنہیں قرآن نے روکا ہے اور جن پر ہمیشگی واجب ہو گئی ہے۔
اسے امام بخاری نے روایت کیا (نیز مسلم، ترمذی اور ابن ماجہ نے بھی)۔ بخاری کی دوسری روایت میں یہ اضافہ ہے: حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: جہنم سے وہ نکلے گا جس نے لا الہ الا اللہ کہا اور اس کے دل میں جَو کے دانے کے برابر بھلائی ہو؛ پھر وہ نکلے گا جس نے لا الہ الا اللہ کہا اور اس کے دل میں گیہوں کے دانے کے برابر بھلائی ہو؛ پھر وہ نکلے گا جس نے لا الہ الا اللہ کہا اور اس کے دل میں ذرّے کے برابر بھلائی ہو۔
