Arabic (Original)
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَمِيلٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ، عَنْ نُبَيْشَةَ، قَالَ ذُكِرَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ كُنَّا نَعْتِرُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ . قَالَ " اذْبَحُوا لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي أَىِّ شَهْرٍ مَا كَانَ وَبَرُّوا اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَأَطْعِمُوا " .
English Translation
It is narrated that Hadrat Nubaishah (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: "It was said to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): 'During the Jahiliyyah we used to offer the 'Atirah.' He said: 'Slaughter for the sake of Allah, the Mighty and sublime, no matter what month it is; do good for the sake of Allah, the Mighty and sublime, and feed the poor
Urdu Translation
حضرت نبیشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے سامنے ذکر کیا گیا کہ ہم زمانہ جاہلیت میں عتیرہ ذبح کیا کرتے تھے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "اللہ عزوجل کے لیے کسی بھی مہینے میں ذبح کرو، اللہ عزوجل کی اطاعت کرو اور (لوگوں کو) کھلاؤ۔"
