English Translation
Narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood among them and mentioned that jihad in the cause of Allah and faith in Allah are the best of deeds. A man stood up and asked: "O Messenger of Allah, if I am killed in the cause of Allah, will my sins be expiated?" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Yes, if you are killed in the cause of Allah while you are patient, seeking reward, advancing and not retreating." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "What did you say?" He repeated his question. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Yes, if you are killed in the cause of Allah while you are patient, seeking reward, advancing and not retreating — except for debt, for Jibreel told me that."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہسیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو خبر پہنچی کہ سیدنا سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے شراب بیچی ہے تو انہوں نے کہا سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ پر اللہ کی مار! کیا اسے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے اس فرمان کا علم نہیں کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہودیوں پر لعنت کی (اس وجہ سے کہ) ان پر چربی کا کھانا حرام ہوا تو انہوں نے اسے پگھلایا اور بیچ دیا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 929]
