English Translation

Narrated Abu Said al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to recite in each rak'ah of the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr the equivalent of thirty verses, and in the last two rak'ahs the equivalent of fifteen verses, or he said, half of that. And in the first two rak'ahs of Asr, in each rak'ah the equivalent of fifteen verses, and in the last two rak'ahs half of that (he used to recite).
