English Translation
Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him): A man from the descendants of Marwan became governor of Madinah, and he summoned Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) and ordered him to curse Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) refused, so that man said, "If you refuse to curse him, then say, 'May Allah's curse be upon Abu Turab.'" Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had no name dearer to him than Abu Turab, and he would be pleased with anyone who called him by this name." The man said, "Tell us the story of how he came to be named Abu Turab." Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to the house of Fatimah al-Zahra (may Allah be pleased with her) and did not find Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) in the house. He (peace be upon him) asked, 'Where is the son of your uncle?' She said, 'There were some words between me and him, and he became angry and left, and he did not sleep here.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to a man, 'Go and see where he is.' The man came and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, Ali is sleeping in the mosque.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) went to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), who was lying down; his cloak had slipped from his side and dust had clung to (his body). So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) began wiping off that dust and saying, 'Get up, O Abu Turab (Father of dust)! Get up, O Abu Turab!'" [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1641]
Urdu Translation
سیدنا سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہمدینہ میں مروان کی اولاد میں سے ایک شخص حاکم ہوا تو اس نے سیدنا سہل رضی اللہ عنہ کو بلایا اور سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ کو گالی دینے کا حکم دیا۔ سیدنا سہل رضی اللہ عنہ نے انکار کیا تو وہ شخص بولا کہ اگر تو گالی دینے سے انکار کرتا ہے تو کہہ کہ ابوتراب پر اللہ کی لعنت ہو۔ سیدنا سہل رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ کو ابوتراب سے زیادہ کوئی نام پسند نہ تھا اور وہ اس نام کے ساتھ پکارنے والے شخص سے خوش ہوتے تھے۔ وہ شخص بولا کہ اس کا قصہ بیان کرو کہ ان کا نام ابوتراب کیوں ہوا؟ سیدنا سہل رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسیدہ فاطمۃالزہراء رضی اللہ عنہا کے گھر تشریف لائے تو سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ کو گھر میں نہ پایا، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے پوچھا کہ تیرے چچا کا بیٹا کہاں ہے؟ وہ بولیں کہ مجھ میں اور ان میں کچھ باتیں ہوئیں اور وہ غصہ ہو کر چلے گئے اور یہاں نہیں سوئے۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ایک آدمی سے فرمایا کہ دیکھو وہ کہاں ہیں؟ وہ آیا اور بولا کہ یا رسول اللہ! علی مسجد میں سو رہے ہیں۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس تشریف لے گئے، وہ لیٹے ہوئے تھے اور چادر ان کے پہلو سے الگ ہو گئی تھی اور (ان کے بدن سے) مٹی لگ گئی تھی، تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے وہ مٹی پونچھنا شروع کی اور فرمانے لگے کہ اے ابوتراب! اٹھ۔ اے ابوتراب! اٹھ۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1641]
