English Translation
Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him): On the day of the battle of Khaybar, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "I will give this banner to a man at whose hands Allah will grant victory, who loves Allah and His Messenger and whom Allah and His Messenger love." So the people spent the whole night talking about who would be given this honor. When morning came, all of them came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), each hoping that the banner would be given to him. He (peace be upon him) said, "Where is Ali bin Abi Talib?" The people said, "O Messenger of Allah, his eyes are sore." Then he sent for him and applied his saliva to his eyes and prayed for him, and he became completely well, as if he had no ailment. Then he (peace be upon him) gave him the banner. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah, shall I fight them until they become like us (Muslims)?" He (peace be upon him) said, "Proceed gently until you alight in their field, then call them to Islam and inform them of what is due to Allah from them. By Allah, if Allah guides even a single man through you, it is better for you than red camels." [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1640]
Urdu Translation
سیدنا سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے خیبر کی لڑائی کے دن فرمایا کہ میں یہ جھنڈا اس شخص کو دوں گا جس کے ہاتھ پر اللہ تعالیٰ فتح دے گا اور وہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول سے محبت کرتا ہو گا اور اللہ اور اللہ کے رسول اس کو چاہتے ہوں گے۔ پھر رات بھر لوگ ذکر کرتے رہے کہ دیکھیں یہ شان آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکس کو دیتے ہیں۔ جب صبح ہوئی تو سب کے سب رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس یہی امید لئے آئے کہ یہ جھنڈا مجھے ملے گا۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ علی بن ابی طالب کہاں ہیں؟ لوگوں نے عرض کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ! ان کی آنکھیں دکھتی ہیں۔ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے انہیں بلا بھیجا اور ان کی آنکھوں میں تھوک لگایا اور ان کے لئے دعا کی تو وہ بالکل اچھے ہو گئے گویا ان کو کوئی تکلیف نہ تھی۔ پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے انہیں جھنڈا دیا۔ چنانچہ سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ! میں ان سے لڑوں گا یہاں تک کہ وہ ہماری طرح (مسلمان) ہو جائیں۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ آہستہ چلتا جا، یہاں تک کہ ان کے میدان میں اترے، پھر ان کو اسلام کی طرف بلا اور ان کو بتا جو اللہ کا حق ان پر واجب ہے۔ اللہ کی قسم اگر اللہ تعالیٰ تیری وجہ سے ایک شخص کو ہدایت کرے تو وہ تیرے لئے سرخ اونٹوں سے زیادہ بہتر ہے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1640]
