English Translation
Narrated Shurayh bin Hani': I came to Umm al-Mu'minin Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) to ask her about wiping over the leather socks. She said: "Ask the son of Abu Talib (that is, Ali, may Allah be pleased with him), for he used to travel with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)." So we asked him, and he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) fixed the period of wiping for the traveler at three days and three nights, and for the resident at one day and night.
Urdu Translation
شریح بن ہانی سے روایت ہے کہمیں ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے پاس، ان سے موزوں پر مسح کے بارے میں پوچھنے آیا تو انہوں نے کہا کہ تم ابوطالب کے بیٹے (یعنی علی رضی اللہ عنہ) سے پوچھو (اس لئے کہ) وہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ساتھ سفر کیا کرتے تھے۔ ہم نے ان سے پوچھا تو انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے مسافر کیلئے مسح کی مدت تین دن تین رات مقرر فرمائی اور مقیم کیلئے ایک دن رات۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 139]
