English Translation
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "A man was walking along when he saw a thorny branch on the road, so he removed it (from the path). For this Allah the Exalted rewarded him by forgiving him." And he (peace be upon him) said: "The martyrs are five: one who dies of the plague (an epidemic — a disease that becomes widespread; in that era the plague came through vomiting and diarrhea); one who dies of an abdominal ailment (such as diarrhea, dysentery, or dropsy); one who dies by drowning in water; one who dies by being crushed; and one who is killed in the way of Allah." Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا: ایک شخص جا رہا تھا کہ اس نے راستے میں ایک کانٹے دار شاخ دیکھی تو (راستے سے) ہٹا دی۔ جس پر اللہ تعالیٰ نے اس کا بدلہ دیتے ہوئے اس کو بخش دیا۔ اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ شہید پانچ ہیں۔ جو طاعون (وبا یعنی جو مرض عام ہو جائے اس زمانہ میں طاعون قے و دست سے ہوتا ہے) سے فوت ہو جائے جو پیٹ کے عارضے سے مرے (جیسے اسہال یا پیچش یا استسقاء سے) اور جو پانی میں ڈوب کر مرے اور جو دب کر مرے اور جو اللہ کی راہ میں مارا جائے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1082]
