English Translation
Ubayy ibn Ka'b reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, among the things that concern me about my nation are the adornments and luxuries of the world that will be opened up for them." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, can good bring about evil?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) remained silent until it was thought that revelation was descending upon him. Then he wiped the sweat from his forehead and said: "Where is the questioner?" — as though he considered his question a good one — "Indeed, good does not bring about evil, but among what the spring produces is what kills or brings near to death — except the animal that eats green vegetation, which eats until its flanks are stretched, then faces the sun, chews the cud, defecates and urinates, and then grazes again. Whoever takes wealth by right is blessed in it, and whoever takes it without right is like the one who eats but is never satisfied." Narrated by Ahmad and al-Nasa'i.
