أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ بَحِيرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «الْجَاهِرُ بِالْقُرْآنِ كَالْجَاهِرِ بِالصَّدَقَةِ وَالْمُسِرُّ بِالْقُرْآنِ كَالْمُسِرِّ بِالصَّدَقَةِ»
English Translation
Ahmad bin Ali bin al-Muthanna narrated to us, Abd al-Rahman bin Mahdi narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us from Habib from Miqsam from Ibn Abbas from the Prophet (ﷺ) with a similar hadith, and he added in it: 'And whoever attributes to a people an act that they did not do, or claims to belong to someone other than his father.'
