أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ عَنْ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ غَفَلَةَ قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ إِذَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَدِيثًا فَلَأَنْ أَخِرَّ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَكْذِبَ عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ فَإِنَّمَا الْحَرْبُ خُدْعَةٌ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يَأْتِي فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ قَوْمٌ حَدِيثُوا الْأَسْنَانِ سُفَهَاءُ الْأَحْلَامِ يَقُولُونَ مِنْ خَيْرِ قَوْلِ الْبَرِيَّةِ يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ كَمَا يَمْرُقُ السَّهْمُ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ لَا يُجَاوِزُ إِيمَانُهُمْ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ فَأَيْنَمَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فَاقْتُلُوهُمْ فَإِنَّ قَتْلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ لِمَنْ قَتَلَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»
English Translation
Abu Khalifah informed us, Muhammad ibn Kathir al-Abdi narrated to us, Sufyan informed us from al-A'mash from Khaythamah from Suwayd ibn Ghafalah who said: Ali said: When I narrate to you a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), I would rather fall from the sky than lie about him. And when I narrate to you about what is between me and you, war is deception. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: "In the end times there will come people who are young in age and foolish in mind. They will speak from the best speech of creation. They will pass out of Islam as an arrow passes through game. Their faith will not go beyond their throats. Wherever you meet them, kill them, for killing them will be a reward for whoever kills them on the Day of Resurrection."
