أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ بَعْدِي مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَوْ سَيَكُونُ بَعْدِي مِنْ أُمَّتِي قَوْمٌ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ حَلَاقِمَهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الدِّينِ كَمَا يَخْرُجُ السَّهْمُ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ ثُمَّ لَا يَعُودُونَ فِيهِ هُمْ شَرُّ الْخَلْقِ وَالْخَلِيقَةِ»
English Translation
Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Husayn informed us, Shayban ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, Humayd ibn Hilal narrated to us from Abdullah ibn al-Samit from Abu Dharr who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "After me there will be from my ummah - or there will be after me from my ummah - people who recite the Quran but it will not pass beyond their throats. They will pass out of the religion as an arrow passes through game, then they will not return to it. They are the worst of creation."
