أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْقُطَيْعِيُّ ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ أَنَّ أَبَا مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيَّ لَمَّا حَضَرَتْهُ الْوَفَاةُ قَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَشْعَرِيِّينَ لِيُبَلِّغَ الشَّاهِدُ مِنْكُمُ الْغَائِبَ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «حُلْوَةُ الدُّنْيَا مُرَّةُ الْآخِرَةِ وَمُرَّةُ الدُّنْيَا حُلْوَةُ الْآخِرَةِ»
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be well pleased with him), when death approached him, said: "O assembly of the Ash'arites, let those of you who are present convey to those who are absent that I heard the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: 'The sweetness of the world is the bitterness of the Hereafter, and the bitterness of the world is the sweetness of the Hereafter.'"
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابو مالک اشعری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو جب وفات کا وقت آیا تو فرمایا: اے اشعریوں کی جماعت! تم میں سے حاضر غائب تک پہنچا دے کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو ارشاد فرماتے سنا: «دنیا کی مٹھاس آخرت کی کڑواہٹ ہے اور دنیا کی کڑواہٹ آخرت کی مٹھاس ہے۔»
