English Translation
Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "A month can be twenty-nine days. So do not begin fasting until you see the crescent. If clouds obstruct your view, then complete the count of thirty days."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”مہینہ (کم از کم) انتیس دن کا ہوتا ہے پس تم جب تک چاند نہ دیکھو لو روزہ نہ رکھو پھر اگر مطلع ابرآلود ہو جائے (یعنی آسمان پر بادل چھا جائیں اور تم چاند نہ دیکھ سکو) تو تیس دن کا شمار پورا کر لو۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 928]
