English Translation
Narrated Aisha as-Siddiqah, the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her): I used to feel jealous towards those women who offered themselves in gift to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and I would say, "What sort of thing is this, that a woman should offer herself in gift?" Then, when Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: "You have the choice to defer whom you will of them (your wives) (and for as long as you wish) and to keep with you whom you will; and if you call back any of them whom you had set aside, there is no blame upon you," I said to the Prophet (peace be upon him), "I see that Allah the Exalted commands only in accordance with your desire."
Urdu Translation
ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہمیں ان عورتوں پر جو اپنے آپ کو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے لیے ہبہ کر دیتی تھیں، غیرت کرتی تھی اور میں کہتی کہ یہ کون سی بات ہے کہ عورت اپنے تیئں ہبہ کر دے؟ پھر جب اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ آیت اتاری”آپ کو یہ اختیار ہے کہ آپ اپنی ان (بیویوں) میں سے جسے چاہیں (اور جب تک چاہیں) دور رکھیں اور جسے چاہیں اپنے پاس رکھیں اور اگر آپ ان میں سے بھی کسی کو اپنے پاس بلائیں جنہیں آپ نے الگ کر رکھا تھا تو بھی آپ پر کوئی گناہ نہیں“تو میں نے نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے کہا کہ میں دیکھتی ہوں کہ اللہ تعالیٰ، آپ کی خواہش کے مطابق ہی حکم دیتا ہے۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1761]
