English Translation
Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a year before his death, he wrote to the people of Basra, ordering that if any Magian (Zoroastrian) had married his mahram (close female relative), they should be separated. Umar had not taken jizyah from the Magians until Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) testified that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had taken jizyah from the Magians of Hajar.
Urdu Translation
امیرالمؤمنین عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہانھوں نے اپنی وفات سے ایک سال قبل اہل بصریٰ کی طرف ایک خط لکھا کہ اگر کسی مجوسی (پارسی) نے اپنی محرم عورت کو اپنی بیوی بنایا ہو تو ان دونوں کو جدا کر دو اور امیرالمؤمنین عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے مجوسیوں سے جزیہ نہیں لیا یہاں تک کہ سیدنا عبدالرحمن بن عوف رضی اللہ عنہ نے اس امر کی شہادت دی کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے (مقام) ہجر کے مجوسیوں سے جزیہ لیا تھا۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1337]
