حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ح حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلاَمٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، أَنَّ حُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم طَرَقَهُ وَفَاطِمَةَ ـ عَلَيْهَا السَّلاَمُ ـ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ لَهُمْ " أَلاَ تُصَلُّونَ ". فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّمَا أَنْفُسُنَا بِيَدِ اللَّهِ، فَإِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَبْعَثَنَا بَعَثَنَا، فَانْصَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حِينَ قَالَ لَهُ ذَلِكَ وَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ إِلَيْهِ شَيْئًا، ثُمَّ سَمِعَهُ وَهْوَ مُدْبِرٌ يَضْرِبُ فَخِذَهُ وَهْوَ يَقُولُ {وَكَانَ الإِنْسَانُ أَكْثَرَ شَىْءٍ جَدَلاً}. قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يُقَالُ مَا أَتَاكَ لَيْلاً فَهْوَ طَارِقٌ. وَيُقَالُ الطَّارِقُ النَّجْمُ، وَالثَّاقِبُ الْمُضِيءُ، يُقَالُ أَثْقِبْ نَارَكَ لِلْمُوقِدِ.
English Translation
Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, he said Shu'ayb informed us, from al-Zuhri. (Through another chain:) And Muhammad bin Salam narrated to me, he said Attab bin Bashir informed us, from Ishaq, from al-Zuhri, Hadrat Ali bin Husayn (may Allah be well pleased with them both) informed me that Hadrat Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be well pleased with them both) informed him that Hadrat Ali al-Murtada (may Allah ennoble his countenance) said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came to them at night — to him and Hadrat Fatimah (upon her be peace), the daughter of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) — and said: "Will you not pray?" Hadrat Ali (may Allah ennoble his countenance) said: "I submitted, 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! Our souls are in the Hand of Allah; when He wills to raise us, He will raise us.'" The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) departed when he said that to him, without responding. Then he heard him, while he was turning away, striking his thigh and saying: 'And man is, more than anything, contentious' (al-Kahf 18:54). Abu Hadrat Abdullah (Imam al-Bukhari, upon him be mercy) said: It is said that whatever comes at night is a 'tariq' (night visitor), and 'tariq' also means a star, and 'thaqib' means luminous; it is said (to one lighting a fire): 'Make your fire bright.'"

ہم سے ابوالیمان نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہمیں شعیب نے خبر دی، ان سے زہری نے۔ (دوسری سند) اور مجھ سے محمد بن سلام نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہمیں عتاب بن بشیر نے خبر دی، ان سے اسحاق نے، ان سے زہری نے، مجھے حضرت علی بن حسین رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما نے خبر دی کہ حضرت حسین بن علی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما نے انہیں خبر دی کہ حضرت علی المرتضیٰ کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم نے فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ایک رات ان کے اور حضرت فاطمہ علیہا السلام بنت رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس تشریف لائے اور فرمایا: "کیا تم نماز نہیں پڑھتے؟" حضرت علی کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم نے فرمایا: میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! ہماری جانیں تو اللہ کے ہاتھ میں ہیں، جب وہ ہمیں اٹھانا چاہے تو اٹھائے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم واپس تشریف لے گئے جب انہوں نے یہ بات کہی اور آپ نے کوئی جواب نہیں دیا، پھر انہوں نے سنا کہ آپ واپس جاتے ہوئے اپنی ران پر ہاتھ مار رہے تھے اور فرما رہے تھے: «وَكَانَ الإِنْسَانُ أَكْثَرَ شَىْءٍ جَدَلاً» (اور انسان سب چیزوں سے زیادہ جھگڑالو ہے)۔ ابوعبداللہ (امام بخاری رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ) نے فرمایا: کہا جاتا ہے کہ جو رات کو آئے وہ طارق ہے، اور طارق ستارے کو بھی کہتے ہیں، اور ثاقب کے معنیٰ روشن ہیں، کہا جاتا ہے: آگ جلانے والے سے کہیں: اپنی آگ کو روشن کرو۔
