حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ تَوْبَةَ الْعَنْبَرِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ لِي الشَّعْبِيُّ أَرَأَيْتَ حَدِيثَ الْحَسَنِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَقَاعَدْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ قَرِيبًا مِنْ سَنَتَيْنِ أَوْ سَنَةٍ وَنِصْفٍ فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم غَيْرَ هَذَا قَالَ كَانَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِيهِمْ سَعْدٌ فَذَهَبُوا يَأْكُلُونَ مِنْ لَحْمٍ، فَنَادَتْهُمُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِنَّهُ لَحْمُ ضَبٍّ فَأَمْسَكُوا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " كُلُوا ـ أَوِ اطْعَمُوا ـ فَإِنَّهُ حَلاَلٌ ـ أَوْ قَالَ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ. شَكَّ فِيهِ ـ وَلَكِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ طَعَامِي ".
English Translation
Hadrat Tawba al-Anbari (may the mercy of Allah be upon him) narrated that Imam ash-Sha'bi (may the mercy of Allah be upon him) said to me: 'Have you noticed how al-Hasan (al-Basri) narrates (Mursal) hadiths from the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)? I sat with Hadrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both) for nearly two years or a year and a half, and I did not hear him narrate from the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) except this one hadith.' He said: 'Some of the Companions of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), among them Hadrat Sa'd (may Allah be well pleased with him), were about to eat meat when one of the Mothers of the Believers (Hadrat Maimunah, may Allah be well pleased with her) called out that it was the meat of a monitor lizard (Dabb). The people stopped eating. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: Eat — or said: partake of it — for it is lawful — or said: there is no harm in it — but it is not from my food.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت توبہ العنبری رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ سے روایت ہے کہ امام شعبی رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ نے مجھ سے فرمایا: دیکھو حسن (بصری) نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے کتنی (مرسل) احادیث روایت کرتے ہیں! میں حضرت ابنِ عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کی خدمت میں تقریباً دو سال یا ڈیڑھ سال رہا لیکن ان سے نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے اس ایک حدیث کے سوا کوئی حدیث بیان کرتے نہیں سنا۔ انہوں نے فرمایا: نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے بعض صحابہ تھے، ان میں حضرت سعد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بھی تھے۔ وہ گوشت کھانے لگے تو اُمّہات المؤمنین میں سے ایک (حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین میمونہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا) نے آواز دی کہ یہ سانڈے کا گوشت ہے۔ لوگ رُک گئے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: کھاؤ — یا فرمایا: تناول کرو — یہ حلال ہے — یا فرمایا: اس میں کوئی حرج نہیں — البتہ یہ میری خوراک نہیں ہے۔
