حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الأَكْوَعِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ " أَذِّنْ فِي قَوْمِكَ ـ أَوْ فِي النَّاسِ ـ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ أَنَّ مَنْ أَكَلَ فَلْيُتِمَّ بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِهِ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَكَلَ فَلْيَصُمْ ".
English Translation
Hadrat Salama bin al-Akwa (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) told a man from the tribe of Aslam: 'Announce among your people — or among the people — on the Day of Ashura that whoever has already eaten should complete the rest of his day (without eating), and whoever has not eaten should fast.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت سلمہ بن الاکوع رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے قبیلۂ اسلم کے ایک شخص سے فرمایا: اپنی قوم میں — یا لوگوں میں — عاشوراء کے دن اعلان کر دو کہ جس نے (کچھ) کھا لیا ہو وہ اپنا بقیہ دن (بغیر کھائے) پورا کرے، اور جس نے نہ کھایا ہو وہ روزہ رکھے۔
