حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ـ وَكَانَ قَائِدَ كَعْبٍ مِنْ بَنِيهِ حِينَ عَمِيَ ـ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ لَمَّا تَخَلَّفَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ ـ فَذَكَرَ حَدِيثَهُ ـ وَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم الْمُسْلِمِينَ عَنْ كَلاَمِنَا، فَلَبِثْنَا عَلَى ذَلِكَ خَمْسِينَ لَيْلَةً، وَآذَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِتَوْبَةِ اللَّهِ عَلَيْنَا.
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah bin Ka'b bin Malik — who was Hadrat Ka'b's guide from among his sons after Hadrat Ka'b (may Allah be well pleased with him) became blind — narrated: I heard Hadrat Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) say: When he stayed behind from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in the Battle of Tabuk — then he narrated the full account — and the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbade the Muslims from speaking to us. We remained in that state for fifty nights, and then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) announced the acceptance of our repentance by Allah.
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن کعب بن مالک سے روایت ہے — جو حضرت کعب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے نابینا ہو جانے کے بعد ان کے بیٹوں میں سے ان کے رہنما تھے — کہ میں نے حضرت کعب بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے سنا، انہوں نے فرمایا: جب وہ غزوۂ تبوک میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ نہ جا سکے — پھر انہوں نے اپنا پورا واقعہ بیان کیا — اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مسلمانوں کو ہم سے بات کرنے سے منع فرما دیا۔ ہم پچاس رات اسی حال میں رہے، پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ہم پر اللہ تعالیٰ کی توبہ قبول ہونے کا اعلان فرمایا۔
