Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُقَاتِلٍ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ، قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ أَنْ أَعْتَكِفَ لَيْلَةً فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ. قَالَ " أَوْفِ بِنَذْرِكَ ".
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Muqatil Abu al-Hasan narrated to us, 'Abd Allah informed us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Umar informed us, from Nafi', from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both), that 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! I made a vow during the days of ignorance (pre-Islamic era) that I would perform i'tikaf (seclusion in the mosque) for one night in al-Masjid al-Haram. He stated: "Fulfill your vow."
Urdu Translation
ہم سے محمد بن مقاتل ابوالحسن نے بیان کیا، ہمیں عبداللہ نے خبر دی، ہمیں عبیداللہ بن عمر نے خبر دی، انہوں نے نافع سے، انہوں نے حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت کیا کہ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! میں نے زمانہ جاہلیت میں نذر مانی تھی کہ مسجد حرام میں ایک رات اعتکاف کروں گا۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: "اپنی نذر پوری کرو۔"
