It is narrated from Kuraib, the freed slave of Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both), that Hadrat Ibn Abbas, Hadrat Abdur-Rahman bin Azhar, and Hadrat Miswar bin Makhrama (may Allah be well pleased with them) sent him to Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be well pleased with her) to convey their greetings and ask about the two Rak'at after Asr prayer, saying that they were informed she offered them, while they had been told the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had forbidden them. Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Aisha (may Allah be well pleased with her) said, 'Ask Hadrat Umm Salama.' He went to her and she said that the daughter of Hadrat Abdur-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be well pleased with him) had asked her the same question. Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Umm Salama (may Allah be well pleased with her) said, 'I heard the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbid these two Rak'at, but then I saw him pray them. When the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came in, I sent the slave-girl to stand beside him and say: Hadrat Umm Salama submits: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! You forbade these two Rak'at but now you are praying them. If he gestures with his hand, step back. The slave-girl did so. The Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) gestured, and she stepped back. When the prayer was finished, he declared: O daughter of Abu Umayya! You asked about the two Rak'at after Asr. Some people of Abdul Qais came and prevented me from praying the two Rak'at after Zuhr; these are those two Rak'at.'

حضرت کریب، حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کے آزاد کردہ غلام سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت ابن عباس، حضرت عبدالرحمن بن ازہر اور حضرت مسور بن مخرمہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہم نے انہیں حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے پاس بھیجا کہ ہماری طرف سے سلام عرض کریں اور عصر کے بعد دو رکعت نماز کے بارے میں پوچھیں اور بتائیں کہ ہمیں خبر ملی ہے کہ آپ یہ دو رکعتیں پڑھتی ہیں حالانکہ ہمیں بتایا گیا ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان سے منع فرمایا ہے۔ حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے فرمایا: حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین اُمّ سلمہ سے پوچھو۔ میں ان کے پاس گیا تو انہوں نے فرمایا: مجھ سے بھی حضرت عبدالرحمن بن عوف کی بیٹی نے ایسا ہی سوال کیا تھا۔ حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین ام سلمہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے فرمایا: میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے سنا کہ ان دو رکعتوں سے منع فرمایا ہے، پھر دیکھا کہ حضور صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے انہیں پڑھا۔ جب حضور صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تشریف لائے تو میں نے لونڈی سے کہا کہ حضور صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پہلو میں کھڑی ہو کر بتاؤ کہ حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین ام سلمہ عرض کرتی ہیں: یا رسول اللہ! آپ نے ان دو رکعتوں سے منع فرمایا تھا لیکن اب خود پڑھ رہے ہیں۔ اگر حضور صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہاتھ سے اشارہ فرمائیں تو پیچھے ہٹ جانا۔ لونڈی نے ایسا ہی کیا۔ حضور صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ہاتھ سے اشارہ فرمایا تو وہ پیچھے ہٹ گئی۔ جب نماز ختم ہوئی تو ارشاد فرمایا: اے بنت ابی امیہ! تم نے عصر کے بعد کی دو رکعتوں کے بارے میں پوچھا تھا۔ عبدالقیس کے کچھ لوگ آئے تھے اور ان کی وجہ سے مجھے ظہر کے بعد کی دو رکعتیں نہیں پڑھ سکا تھا، وہ یہ دو رکعتیں ہیں۔
