Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ الْبُنَانِيُّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ كَانَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ لاَ يَصُومُ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ أَجْلِ الْغَزْوِ، فَلَمَّا قُبِضَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَمْ أَرَهُ مُفْطِرًا، إِلاَّ يَوْمَ فِطْرٍ أَوْ أَضْحَى.
English Translation
It is narrated by Hadrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) who states: Hadrat Abu Hadrat Talha (may Allah be well pleased with him) did not observe voluntary fasts during the time of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) because of the military expeditions. But after the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) passed away, I never saw him without fasting, except on the day of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha.
Urdu Translation
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے، فرماتے ہیں: حضرت ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے زمانے میں غزوات کی وجہ سے (نفلی) روزے نہیں رکھتے تھے۔ جب نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا وصال ہو گیا تو میں نے انہیں کبھی بغیر روزے کے نہیں دیکھا، سوائے عید الفطر یا عید الاضحی کے دن۔
