Hadrat Abu Shuraih al-Adawi (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that when Amr bin Sa'id was dispatching troops to Makkah, he said to him: 'O Commander! Permit me to narrate to you a statement that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) made on the day after the Conquest of Makkah. My ears heard it, my heart preserved it, and my eyes saw him as he spoke it. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) praised and glorified Allah the Exalted, then stated: "Allah, not people, has made Makkah sacred. Therefore, it is not lawful for anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day to shed blood therein or to cut down its trees. If anyone claims that fighting therein is permissible because the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) fought there, tell him: Allah permitted His Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) but did not permit you. And even I was only permitted for a brief period of one day, and today its sanctity has been restored as it was before. Let those present convey this to those absent."' Abu Shuraih was asked: 'What did Amr reply to you?' He said: 'Amr said: O Abu Shuraih! I know this better than you. The Sanctuary does not give refuge to a sinner, nor to one fleeing after shedding blood, nor to one fleeing after committing a crime.' Kharbah means 'baliyyah' (crime/calamity).

حضرت ابوشریح عدوی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ جب عمرو بن سعید مکہ پر لشکر کشی کر رہا تھا تو انہوں نے کہا: اے امیر! مجھے اجازت دو کہ میں تمہیں وہ حدیث سناؤں جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فتح مکہ کے دوسرے دن ارشاد فرمائی تھی۔ اس حدیث مبارک کو میرے ان کانوں نے سنا، میرے دل نے اسے یاد رکھا اور میری آنکھوں نے آپ کو دیکھا جب آپ ارشاد فرما رہے تھے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اللہ تعالیٰ کی حمد و ثنا بیان فرمائی، پھر ارشاد فرمایا: مکہ کو اللہ تعالیٰ نے حرمت عطا فرمائی ہے، لوگوں نے نہیں۔ پس کسی ایسے شخص کے لیے جو اللہ اور یومِ آخرت پر ایمان رکھتا ہو یہ جائز نہیں کہ وہ یہاں خون بہائے اور نہ یہاں کوئی درخت کاٹے۔ اگر کوئی شخص رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے (فتح مکہ کے موقع پر) قتال سے اس کا جواز نکالے تو اس سے کہہ دو: اللہ نے اپنے رسول صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو اجازت دی تھی، تمہیں اجازت نہیں دی۔ اور مجھے بھی صرف ایک دن تھوڑی دیر کے لیے اجازت ملی تھی، پھر آج اس کی حرمت ایسی ہی قائم ہو گئی جیسے پہلے تھی۔ اور جو موجود ہیں وہ غائبوں کو یہ پیغام پہنچا دیں۔ حضرت ابوشریح رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے پوچھا گیا: عمرو نے آپ کو کیا جواب دیا؟ انہوں نے بتایا: عمرو نے کہا: حضرت ابوشریح! میں یہ بات تم سے زیادہ جانتا ہوں، حرم کسی گنہگار کو پناہ نہیں دیتا اور نہ خون بہا کر بھاگنے والے کو اور نہ کسی جرم کر کے بھاگنے والے کو۔ «خربة» سے مراد «بلية» (مصیبت/جرم) ہے۔
