Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ إِنَّ رَجُلاً قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، كَيْفَ صَلاَةُ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ " مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ ".
English Translation
It is narrated from Hadrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both) who said: A man submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! How should the night prayer be offered?' He declared: 'Two rak'at at a time, and when you fear the approach of dawn, offer one rak'a as Witr to make your prayer odd.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں کہ ایک شخص نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! رات کی نماز کس طرح پڑھی جائے؟ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: دو دو رکعت (کر کے پڑھو)، پھر جب صبح ہونے کا اندیشہ ہو تو ایک رکعت وتر پڑھ کر اپنی نماز کو طاق بنا لو۔
