English Translation
Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Aswad narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Kathir al-Mala'i narrated to us, from Laith — meaning Ibn Abi Sulaim — from Mujahid, from Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him), from the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) who stated: «A servant does not truly believe until his neighbor is safe from his harm. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent. Indeed, Allah Blessed and Exalted loves the wealthy, forbearing, and modest person, and hates the obscene, shameless, and persistent beggar.» This hadith — we do not know it to be narrated from Laith from Mujahid from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) except through this chain.
