حَدَّثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنَ الْمُثَنَّى قَال حَدَّثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ قَال حَدَّثني أَبِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَن أَبِي قِلاَبَةَ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ اللَّجْلاجِ عَنْ عَبد اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَبِّي فِي أَحْسَنِ صُورَةٍ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ فَقُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَبِّي وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ فِيمَ يَخْتَصِمُ الْمَلأُ الأَعْلَى قُلْتُ رَبِّي لا أَدْرِي قَالَ فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ بَيْنَ كتفي فوجدت بردها بين ثدي فَعَلِمْتُ مَا بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَبِّي وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ فِيمَ يَخْتَصِمُ الْمَلأُ الأَعْلَى قُلْتُ رَبِّي فِي الْكَفَّارَاتِ وَالْمَشْيِ عَلَى الأَقْدَامِ إِلَى الْجَمَاعَاتِ وَإِسْبَاغِ الْوُضُوءِ فِي الْمَكْرُوهَاتِ وَانْتِظَارِ الصَّلاةِ بَعْدِ الصَّلاةِ إِلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ فَمَنْ حَافَظَ عَلَيْهِنَّ عَاشَ بِخَيْرٍ وَمَاتَ بِخَيْرٍ وَكان مِنْ ذُنُوبِهِ كَيَوْمٍ وُلِدَ رَأَيْتُ رَبِّي فِي أَحْسَنِ صُورَةٍ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ فَقُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَبِّي وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ فِيمَ يَخْتَصِمُ الْمَلأُ الأَعْلَى قُلْتُ رَبِّي لا أَدْرِي قَالَ فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ بَيْنَ كتفي فوجدت بردها بين ثدي فَعَلِمْتُ مَا بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ رَبِّي وَسَعْدَيْكَ قَالَ فِيمَ يَخْتَصِمُ الْمَلأُ الأَعْلَى قُلْتُ رَبِّي فِي الْكَفَّارَاتِ وَالْمَشْيِ عَلَى الأَقْدَامِ إِلَى الْجَمَاعَاتِ وَإِسْبَاغِ الْوُضُوءِ فِي الْمَكْرُوهَاتِ وَانْتِظَارِ الصَّلاةِ بَعْدِ الصَّلاةِ إِلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ فَمَنْ حَافَظَ عَلَيْهِنَّ عَاشَ بِخَيْرٍ وَمَاتَ بِخَيْرٍ وَكان مِنْ ذُنُوبِهِ كَيَوْمٍ وُلِدَ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: Mu'adh ibn Hisham narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me, from Qatadah, from Abu Qilabah, from Khalid ibn al-Lajlaj, from Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both), that the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: «I saw my Lord in the most beautiful form. He said: 'O Muhammad!' I said: 'Here I am, my Lord, at Your service.' He said: 'About what does the Highest Assembly dispute?' I said: 'My Lord, I do not know.' He said: So He placed His Hand between my shoulders, and I felt its coolness between my chest, and I came to know everything between the east and the west. He said: 'O Muhammad!' I said: 'Here I am, my Lord, at Your service.' He said: 'About what does the Highest Assembly dispute?' I said: 'My Lord, about the expiations — walking on foot to the congregational prayers, performing ablution thoroughly in difficult conditions, and waiting for prayer after prayer. Whoever preserves these shall live in goodness and die in goodness, and shall be free from sins as on the day he was born.'»
