English Translation
Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: Makki ibn Ibrahim al-Balkhi narrated to us, he said: 'Ubaydullah ibn Abi Ziyad narrated to us, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from a cousin of Abu Dharr, from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever drinks wine, his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights. If he repents, Allah will accept his repentance. If he returns to it, the same applies. If he returns again, the same applies." He said: "I do not know whether it was in the third or fourth time that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'If he returns, it is a right upon Allah to make him drink from the clay of khabal.'" It was asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the clay of khabal?" He said: "The pus of the people of the Fire." This hadith was also narrated by others from Shahr ibn Hawshab from a man from Abu Dharr, and 'Ubaydullah named the man.
