حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ نَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ نَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِثَلَاثٍ أَنْ أَسْمَعَ وَأُطِيعَ وَلَوْ لِعَبْدٍ مُجَدَّعِ الْأَطْرَافِ وَإِذَا صَنَعْتُ مَرَقَةً اَنْظُرُ أَنْ أُكْثِرَ مَاءَهَا ثُمَّ أَنْظُرُ نَاسًا مِنْ جِيرَانِي فَأُعْطِيهِمْ مِنْهَا أَوْ كَلِمَةً نَحْوَهَا وَأَنْ أُصَلِّيَ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتُ الْإِمَامَ وَقَدْ صَلَّى فَقَدْ أَجْزَتْكَ صَلَاتُكَ وَإِلَّا فَلَكَ نَافِلَةٌ وَأُطِيعَ وَلَوْ لِعَبْدٍ مُجَدَّعِ الْأَطْرَافِ وَإِذَا صَنَعْتُ مَرَقَةً اَنْظُرُ أَنْ أُكْثِرَ مَاءَهَا ثُمَّ أَنْظُرُ نَاسًا مِنْ جِيرَانِي فَأُعْطِيهِمْ مِنْهَا أَوْ كَلِمَةً نَحْوَهَا وَأَنْ أُصَلِّيَ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتُ الْإِمَامَ وَقَدْ صَلَّى فَقَدْ أَجْزَتْكَ صَلَاتُكَ وَإِلَّا فَلَكَ نَافِلَةٌ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: Wahb ibn Jarir narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abu 'Imran al-Jawni, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Samit, from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: My close friend (peace and blessings be upon him) advised me with three things: to hear and obey even if [the leader is] a slave with mutilated limbs; when I make broth, to add more water then look to my neighbors and give them some of it, or words to that effect; and to pray the prayer at its time - if I catch the imam having already prayed, then my prayer has sufficed me, otherwise it is a voluntary prayer for me.
