حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ الْحَرَّانِيُّ قَالَ نَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ قَالَ نَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَلْ رَأَيْتَ رَبَّكَ قَالَ نُورٌ أَنَّى أَرَاهُ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ إِلَّا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ وَكَانَ قَاضِيًا بَصْرِيًّا مِنْ بَنِي عَدِيٍّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَلْ رَأَيْتَ رَبَّكَ قَالَ نُورٌ أَنَّى أَرَاهُ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ إِلَّا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ وَكَانَ قَاضِيًا بَصْرِيًّا مِنْ بَنِي عَدِيٍّ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Mufaddal al-Harrani narrated to us, he said: Umar ibn Habib narrated to us, he said: Khalid al-Hadhdha' narrated to us, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Abdullah ibn al-Samit, from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): Did you see your Lord? He said: "[He is] Light -- how could I see Him?" This hadith is not known to be narrated from Khalid al-Hadhdha' except by Umar ibn Habib, who was a Basran judge from Banu Adi.
