حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ قَالَ نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ خَالِهِ الْفَلَتَانٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُرِيتُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ ثُمَّ أُنْسِيتُهَا وَأُرِيتُ مَسِيحَ الضَّلَالَةِ فَرَأَيْتُ رَجُلَيْنِ يَتَلَاحَيَانِ فَحُجِزْتُ بَيْنَهُمَا فَأُنْسِيتُهَا فَاطْلُبُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ وِتْرًا فَأَمَّا مَسِيحُ الضَّلَالَةِ فَرَجُلٌ أَجْلَى الْجَبْهَةِ مَمْسُوحُ الْعَيْنِ الْيُسْرَى عَرِيضُ النَّحْرِ كَأَنَّهُ عَبْدُ الْعُزَّى بْنُ قَطَنٍ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا يَرْوِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ لِلْفَلَتَانِ طَرِيقًا غَيْرَ هَذَا الطَّرِيقٍ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ نَحْوُ كَلَامِهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ وجُوهٍ بِأَلْفَاظٍ مُخْتَلِفَةٍ ثُمَّ أُنْسِيتُهَا وَأُرِيتُ مَسِيحَ الضَّلَالَةِ فَرَأَيْتُ رَجُلَيْنِ يَتَلَاحَيَانِ فَحُجِزْتُ بَيْنَهُمَا فَأُنْسِيتُهَا فَاطْلُبُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ وِتْرًا فَأَمَّا مَسِيحُ الضَّلَالَةِ فَرَجُلٌ أَجْلَى الْجَبْهَةِ مَمْسُوحُ الْعَيْنِ الْيُسْرَى عَرِيضُ النَّحْرِ كَأَنَّهُ عَبْدُ الْعُزَّى بْنُ قَطَنٍ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا يَرْوِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ لِلْفَلَتَانِ طَرِيقًا غَيْرَ هَذَا الطَّرِيقٍ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ نَحْوُ كَلَامِهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ وجُوهٍ بِأَلْفَاظٍ مُخْتَلِفَةٍ
English Translation
Ali ibn al-Mundhir narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Asim ibn Kulayb, from his father, from his uncle al-Falatan, may Allah be well pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, said: "I was shown the Night of Decree, then I was made to forget it. And I was shown the False Messiah. Then I saw two men quarreling, and I intervened between them, so I was made to forget it. So seek it in the last ten nights on the odd nights. As for the False Messiah, he is a man with a high forehead, with his left eye wiped out, broad-chested, as if he were Abd al-Uzza ibn Qatan." This hadith - we do not know anyone who narrates it from the Prophet, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, except through this route, and we do not know any route for al-Falatan other than this route. Similar wording has been narrated from the Prophet, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, through various routes with different wordings.
