أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْأَوْدِيُّ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ فَلَمَّا سِرْتُ أَرْسَلَ فِي أَثَرِي قَالَ فَرُدِدْتُ فَقَالَ تَدْرِي لِمَ بَعَثْتُ إِلَيْكَ لَا تُصِيبَنَّ شَيْئًا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ فَإِنَّهُ غُلُولٌ وَمَنْ يَغْلُلْ يَأْتِ بِمَا غَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لِهَذَا دَعَوْتُكَ امْضِ إِلَى عَمَلِكَ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ مُعَاذٍ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ
English Translation
Abu Kurayb Muhammad ibn al-'Ala' informed us, he said: Abu Usamah informed us, he said: Dawud ibn Yazid al-Awdi informed us, from al-Mughirah ibn Shibl, from Qays ibn Abi Hazim, from Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to Yemen. When I had set out, he sent someone after me and I was brought back. He said: 'Do you know why I sent for you? Do not take anything without my permission, for that would be dishonesty, and whoever is dishonest will come with what he took on the Day of Resurrection. For this I have called you, so go on your mission.'
