أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ هُوَ الْأَصَمُّ أنبأ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنِي أَيُّوبُ السَّخْتِيَانِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ قَالَ أَخَّرَ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الصَّلَاةَ فَلَقِيتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَضَرَبَ فَخِذِي وَقَالَ سَأَلْتُ خَلِيلِي أَبَا ذَرٍّ فَضَرَبَ فَخِذِي وَقَالَ سَأَلْتُ خَلِيلِي يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَضَرَبَ فَخِذِي فَقَالَ صَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِمِيقَاتِهَا فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَ فَصَلِّ مَعَهُمْ وَلَا تَقُلْ إِنِّي قَدْ صَلَّيْتُ فَلَا أُصَلِّي
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz and Abu Sa'id ibn Abi Amr informed us, they said: Abu al-Abbas — he is al-Asamm — informed us, Usayd ibn Asim narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn Hafs narrated to us from Sufyan, Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani narrated to me from Abu al-Aliyah who said: Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad delayed the prayer. I met Abdullah ibn al-Samit and asked him, and he struck my thigh and said: 'I asked my beloved friend Abu Dharr, and he struck my thigh and said: I asked my beloved friend — meaning the Prophet (peace be upon him) — and he struck my thigh and said: Pray the prayer at its proper time. If you then catch the congregation, pray with them, and do not say: I have already prayed so I will not pray.'
