English Translation
Abu Ahmad al-Mihrajani informed us, Abu Bakr ibn Ja'far informed us, Muhammad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, Ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Malik narrated to us from Abu Ja'far al-Qari who said: I saw Abdullah ibn Umar, when he bent down to prostrate, lightly wiping the pebbles to place his forehead. The Shaykh said: This amount is what is permitted. The dislike is in fidgeting with them. If one levels them before entering the prayer, as Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) did, that would be better, and success is from Allah. It was reported from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib that he saw a man fidgeting with the pebbles and said: If his heart were humble, his limbs would be humble.
