English Translation
Abu Sa'id al-Sayrafi informed us through chains > Abdullah ibn Muhammad > Ali ibn Husayn > Abu Rafi': When Fatimah bore al-Hasan ibn Ali (peace be upon them), she wanted to perform aqiqah for him with a large ram. She came to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he said: 'Do not perform aqiqah for him with anything. Rather, shave the hair of his head and give in charity its weight in silver in the cause of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, or to the wayfarer.' She bore al-Husayn the following year and did the same. Ibn Aqil is the only narrator of this, and if authentic, it seems he wanted to perform the aqiqah for them himself, so he directed her to do something else — giving charity with the weight of their hair in silver. And success is from Allah.
