Abu Zakariyya ibn Abi Ishaq and Abu Bakr ibn al-Hasan informed us, they said: Abu al-Abbas - he is al-Asamm - informed us, al-Rabi' ibn Sulayman informed us, al-Shafi'i informed us, Ibrahim ibn Abi Yahya informed us from Abdullah ibn Dinar from Sa'd al-Falahah, the freedman of Umar, or Ibn Sa'd al-Falahah, that Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Arab Christians are not People of the Book, and their slaughtered animals are not lawful for us. I will not leave them until they either accept Islam or I strike their necks."
